Pink pepper crackles against wilted orange blossom, both immediately engulfed by muddy, medicinal patchouli. That sulphurous edge lurks beneath like something feral, adding an animalic muskiness that borders on confrontational but somehow anchors the sweetness that's already threatening to emerge.
Benzoin and tonka create a thick, honeyed resin that coats everything in amber-toned sweetness, whilst cypriol adds smoke and leather-like shadows. The woods here aren't crisp—they're dense and slightly musty, like sandalwood beads left too long in a drawer, the patchouli still insisting on its earthy, almost medicinal presence.
Vanilla absolute dominates but never turns clean or modern; instead it's powdery and slightly stale, mingling with cedar and vetiver into something like sweetened sawdust. The overall effect is creamy yet woody, a skin scent that hovers close, smelling of aged resins and the faintest ghost of that early spice.
Granatovyy Braslet is a study in olfactory contrasts, where the darkly resinous meets the unexpectedly gourmand. The opening throws you into disarray with its clash of sharp pink pepper and orange blossom, but here the floral element arrives dulled, almost bruised, immediately smothered by earthy patchouli. There's an unsettling animalic undertone—that rotten egg sulphur note—that shouldn't work but somehow lends a peculiar, lived-in quality to the composition, like opening a jewellery box that hasn't seen daylight in decades. This is no polite oriental; it's confrontational.
The heart reveals where Ladanika's intentions truly lie: a thick, resinous core of benzoin Siam and tonka absolute that borders on treacly, tempered by cypriol's smoky, woody shadows. The patchouli refuses to budge, threading through every stage with its medicinal, almost camphoraceous persistence. As vanilla absolute emerges in the base, it mingles with cedar and vetiver to create something neither cleanly woody nor straightforwardly sweet—instead, you get a powdery, almost musty sweetness, like aged wood dusted with icing sugar.
