Mandarin provides an immediate, genuine citrus pop that's neither tart nor candied, whilst neroli and orange blossom move in almost simultaneously, creating an effect akin to peeling fruit near fresh flowers. The opening is brightly floral rather than fruity-forward, with that characteristic neroli soapiness adding immediate sophistication.
The iris moves centre stage around the 90-minute mark, its powdery, almost lipstick-like character softening the brightness considerably. Jasmine adds creamy, indolic depth without turning this overtly perfumed or heavy. The citrus recedes gracefully rather than evaporating, creating a gentle, creamy-fresh floral that feels more naturalistic than constructed.
By the fourth hour, sandalwood and white musk emerge as a translucent veil of cool, slightly papery skin scent. The florals are barely perceptible now, reduced to a faint whisper of iris powder and a ghost of orange blossom.
