Very Valentino Valentino

Very Valentino is a fragrance caught between two identities, never quite committing to either with conviction. Daniela Andrier crafted something deliberately soft—a whisper rather than a declaration—which is both its charm and its fundamental limitation. The composition opens with an unusually generous citrus-floral blend where blackcurrant and mandarin orange provide tart counterpoint to a creamy magnolia base, whilst lily of the valley adds that slightly metallic, aldehydic bite that prevents the top notes from becoming purely sweet. There's a subtle herbal thread running through the opening courtesy of tarragon, which gives the composition an almost botanical herbaceousness.

As it settles, the heart reveals a delicate rose-jasmine-violet triumvirate, but here's where Very Valentino reveals its reticence: these florals are rendered with remarkable restraint. The jasmine doesn't bloom boldly; instead, it sits alongside rosemary and woody notes that feel more like suggestions than declarations, as though the composition is afraid of overwhelming. The woody-floral accord creates something almost aquatic in its translucence—refreshing but ephemeral.
