New Notes
A unique visual signature based on accords, character, and seasonality
The ginger-rum pairing hits with immediate vigour, almost bracing in its spice, whilst lemon and petitgrain scatter brightness across the top. Red fruits arrive like a blurred watercolour wash, neither particularly distinct nor entirely background. Within moments you're aware this won't be a soft introduction.
As the citrus recedes, the heart reveals its complexity—jasmine emerges with a slightly powdery, almost indolic character that the chocolate flower simultaneously sweetens and darkens. Cardamom creates a phantom spiciness that keeps the composition restless, whilst labdanum's resinous warmth suggests something amber-like beneath everything. The civettone begins its work here, adding an almost imperceptible funk.
The synthetic musks finally dominate, wrapping everything in a soft, skin-like second skin. Sandalwood and gaiac wood create a woody skeleton whilst cinnamon fades to memory, leaving behind something vaguely powdery but still animalic—civilised decay, essentially. It's whisper-quiet but distinctly present, more felt than smelled after several hours.
New Notes — Musk Complexity arrives as a deliberately disorienting collision between the spirited and the sensual. Calabrò has constructed something that refuses easy categorisation: a fragrance that tastes as much as it smells, where ginger's peppery bite tangles with the yeasty sweetness of rum whilst citrus threatens to pull everything toward fresh-faced vivacity. This isn't a comfort fragrance—it's a provocation dressed in spice and animalic warmth.
The mathematics favour sweetness and spice here, yet the composition never tips into gourmand predictability. Instead, those synthetic musks (muscenone and exaltone) bloom beneath a heart where jasmine meets chocolate flower, creating something almost indolic, slightly unsettling. There's a feathered quality to it, as though someone has dusted cocoa over carnivorous florals. Cardamom adds a further twist, preventing the sweetness from settling, whilst labdanum grounds the composition with resinous depth.
