Acidica Perfumes
A unique visual signature based on accords, character, and seasonality
The pear arrives first, bright and slightly green, immediately undercut by tangerine's sharp citrus punch. Gardenia blooms almost simultaneously, already suggesting the floral heaviness to come, creating an interesting tension between crisp fruit and creamy flower that keeps the opening from feeling one-dimensional.
The florals swell considerably—orange blossom becomes honeyed and almost jammy, honeysuckle turns thick and honeyed, whilst lily of the valley adds a distinctly powdery, soapy character that prevents the composition from drowning in sweetness. This phase is the fragrance's strongest, where all the competing elements momentarily coexist rather than clash.
Vanilla and amber emerge, softening into a creamy, powdery base that's more gossamer than substantial. The sandalwood offers faint woody support, but the overall effect is increasingly soft and skinlike—intimate rather than projecting, with the sweetness now diffused rather than concentrated.
Jewels Tea occupies an unusual middle ground—it's neither a traditional floral nor a straightforward gourmand, but rather something caught between afternoon tea service and dessert course. Adriana Medina-Baez has constructed a fragrance built on the friction between crisp fruit and honeyed florals, where a pear and tangerine opening collides with a heart dominated by orange blossom and honeysuckle. The florals here refuse to be delicate; they're fleshy, almost cloying in their determination, especially the lily of the valley which adds a soap-like powdery edge that tempers what could have been an overly saccharine composition.
The base—vanilla, amber, musk, and sandalwood—attempts to anchor this sweetness with some structural integrity, though the 52% powdery accord suggests the fragrance tilts towards softness rather than depth. There's a creamy quality to the vanilla-amber marriage, but it lacks the weight to truly ground what sits above it. This is fundamentally a fragrance for someone who gravitates towards gourmand scents but bristles at their hedonistic excess; it's restrained where others would be bombastic.
